5 Reasons to visit the Akinz showroom today

Today is Tuesday which means we are having our trial showroom hours from 1pm to 6pm and there are many reasons to visit.

1. I’ve had a lot of coffee this morning and I’m in the mood to chat.

2. If you stop by right at 1pm, you might get to meet some super cute Articulate City interns as they learn how to screenprint so they can help at our CommuniTEE Night Event next week.

4. Since we finally have a sunny day in Fort Collins today, I’ll give a free pair of sunglasses to anyone that comes in and spends $20 or more.

5. We’re down the street from Odell’s, Fort Collins Brewery, and Funkwerks. Plus we’re next door to A Hunt Club, if that’s more your style. ;)

Bike to Work Week and Bike Accessories

Fort Collins Bike to Work Day is tomorrow and so far we’ve raised almost $200 for the Fort Collins Bike Co-op! You have until the end of June to buy your bike t-shirt and benefit the Fort Collins Bike Co-op. You can buy your bike tshirts here. That also means that today is the last day to put in your order to be hand-delivered by yours truly by bike tomorrow (June 22nd). Don’t live in Fort Collins city limits? Surprise a friend with a bike-delivered gift! Just choose By Bike as your delivery method by 10pm tonight and you’ll get added to our route.

We also are joining up with Big Shot Bikes and the Fort Collins Emergency Vet Clinic to host a Bike to Work Day breakfast station on the Poudre Trail at Riverside and Lemay. Come say hi, buy your bike shirt, and snag a La Luz burrito on your way to work (or another breakfast station).

With all this BikeStravaganza Frenzy going on, we’ve been inspired to create some bike pendants and necklaces. We have both bike scrabble pendants and laser-cut acrylic bike necklaces (modeled above by Houdini) rolling in on the site soon. Check them out in our Jewelry and Accessories section.

Akinz Beanies now available on NewVintageTees.com

NewVintageTees.com is a company all about bringing back the classics. You know the reason you won’t let go of that favorite band shirt you’ve had for years… it just fits so nice. It just may smell a bit and have some stains that are getting a little out of control. So, they are reprinting vintage designs on new supersoft t-shirts.

They wanted some accessories to match this idea and after demo-ing a couple of our handmade beanies, they thought they were definitely the ticket they were looking for. So, check out their site if you’re looking to grab any of this season’s handmade beanies.

New Year, New toys…

Something that we’ve been wanting to do for a while finally happened! We got our own professional grade printing press, and we got hooked up with our own workshop area. Got the press all set up, got screens waiting to be burned and t-shirt ideas dancing like sugarplums in our heads. Just got to gather a few extra supplies and we’ll be churning out t-shirts like nobody’s business.

Not only that, but we’re getting ready for SIA! We aren’t lucky enough to have a booth (read: we don’t have millions of dollars yet to spend on a booth), but we’ll be showing out of a room at the Curtis.

AND… Akinz has an employee! That’s right… no longer a one-woman (plus supportive boyfriend) show… I officially hired someone this morning. All day today we were cutting fabric, ordering blanks and materials, crocheting and sewing… so get ready for some exciting new stuff.

We’re famous. N stuff.

So, as some of you may know, we used to be based out of Steamboat Springs and we still have a bunch of friends and a pretty good fan base back there at the mountain. Sometime last year, two lovely ladies we know got involved with an on-mountain photo shoot for the resort. And this season, they landed a banner in the base area… right next to the gondola line. And our stickers are on their helmets. Sure, noone from the ground will probably notice the stickers on their helmets, but we know they’re there. :)
