What is the Find Your Wings Foundation?
Short Answer: Private fundraising for athletes, artists, & outdoor organizations attempting to accomplish incredible feats and fulfill their dreams.
Long Answer: “When I started Akinz, the company motto I created, ‘Find Your Wings’ was supposed to be about finding something to motivate you in life, to help you spread your wings and reach for the extraordinary, because life is too short to settle for the ordinary. I’ve tried to use Akinz to inspire others thru our partnerships, charitable outreach and sponsored athletes, but this foundation has been a dream of mine for some time. The biggest dreams take more than inspiration, hard work and planning, they also unfortunately cost money. I hope to be able to provide that money for ordinary people trying to accomplish extraordinary things.” – Suzanne Akin, owner/designer of Akinz –

Kim Hess – climber
GOAL: Climb the Seven Summits & beyond
About: Nature is my playground! I am an avid outdoors woman in love with skiing, trail running, mountain biking, rock and ice climbing, and high altitude mountaineering to name a few. Always looking for a challenge, I began a journey 4 years ago that has changed my life. I am on a quest to climb the Seven Summits (the tallest peak on each continent) and complete a traverse to the North and South Pole to complete the Explorer’s Grand Slam. Considered one of the greatest adventure achievements on the planet, I hope to join a small elite group of adventurers, and an even smaller group of women.
On April 25th, 2015, in the course of a few minutes my life changed forever. I was climbing Mt. Everest when a 7.8 earthquake devastated the country of Nepal. My trip ended abruptly and although thankful to be alive, I couldn’t help but be heartbroken. Staring at Mt. Everest from basecamp I wondered if I would ever see her again. Our dreams are the whispers from the depths of our souls, sometimes loud but often soft. Listen. My dream lives on and I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to return to Mt. Everest next spring as I have unfinished business to attend to.
Foundation Goal: $4,000
