Let’s kick off beanie season with a FREE MVP Beanie!
Yep, you read that right. For all of October, we’re giving away one of our most popular beanies, the MVP fold beanie, with any online purchase of $30. ($18 Value)
We’re thinking the May snow we got this weekend is the last we’ll see for the season so now our brain is focused on Summer Adventures! Hopefully you have at least 1 or 2 summer road trips planned so we wanted to share our 5 Akinz picks that we believe are essentials for any road trip.
2. A cozy pullover
Everyone needs a cozy sweatshirt whether you’re driving thru the night or sleeping under the stars. Our fave is the Ride More, Work Less crewneck. It has super soft sponge fleece and whether you’re headed to Mt. Hood or Moab, the message still rings true.
3. The perfect beanie
Whether you’re trekking into the mountains or strolling along a breezy beach, just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you won’t need a beanie. Grab our lightweight and machine washable fold beanie in your choice of color.
4. An everyday tee or tank
Never leave home without a t-shirt or tank top that you’d be willing to wear the entire road trip, even if you don’t have to. We’ve got a ton of tank top options for you, but our current fave is the “I Just Wanna Ride Bikes” muscle tank.
5. Summer Hat
Something to keep the shade out of your eyes and tame the messy road trip hair. Go for a basic black 5 panel or our new fun Dappled Mesh Snapback.
We have met a lot of people recently who were not aware of the handcrafted elements that make our clothing so special. Well, it all started when Suzanne decided to start printing tees herself on the kitchen floor of her studio apt back in 2005. Almost a decade later, with the addition of a storefront and some better equipment, the idea of In-House manufacturing is stronger than ever. Yes we take the time to print up every shirt just for you right in the back of our shop. We make all of our beanies and headbands in house as well. Countless hours have been spent crocheting and knitting but it has been a very cool experience pioneering our own production process that we take so much pride in. We are very excited for the release of our ’14/’15 line this fall and we have some goodies in there so be on the lookout. Viva La Handmade Revolution!
Our handmade beanie initiative was successfully funded via Kickstarter on Tuesday and as of today, we already have the cash in our account and 2 of the 3 yarn orders on their way! We’re so excited to be able to expand our beanie production and continue to grow in a handmade capacity. So,
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of our fans who continue to show us support through this exciting journey.
Even though we didn’t quite reach our stretch goal of $5K, we hope to be able to upgrade our knitting machine in the near future so we can bring you even more exciting beanie & accessory options. Hopefully we will also be able to become a resource for more brands’ private label handmade beanie lines as we have started to do with a select few brands already.
With so many days of super cold temps in a row, it’s easy to find yourself rushing home to cuddle up by the fire or get under a blanket with some cocoa to watch a movie. There’s only so many minutes of negative temps you can stand before declaring defeat and retreating inside. But while we were retreating to our home this weekend, we were reminded of how miserably cold it would be and it is for those who don’t have a place to warm up or a home to retreat to.
Therefore, we’re introducing the Hats for the Homeless program. During the last two weeks in January, we’re using the powers of our handmade beanies for charity.
Details: One for one beanie program is only valid on full-price orders. Orders using a discount code or redemption reward will not be counted towards our beanie total.
We’re currently speaking with several homeless shelters and working out the details of when and how they will be distributed. Depending on how many beanies we have to donate at the end of the month, they will be spread out between shelters in the Fort Collins and Denver area. Donated beanies will be a mixed group of handmade and machine made beanies.
As the spring sluff starts to show a little early this year, we were craving something slouchy and cozy. So, here come some new slouchy beanies to fit in with the relaxed springtime vibe. Currently there are two colorways for the Verushka, a super slouchy beanie crocheted from Simply Soft yarn that feels so soft you want to cuddle it; these are sundrop and turquoise as seen below.
Keep an eye on the site for Flamingo and Grape (read hot pink and purple) to pop up soon.
We also made a bit of slouch for the boys with Pete and Repeat which are striped beanies in similar patterns.
Also making all these beanies in custom colors upon request… got an idea for the perfect beanie for you? Send it our way…
Check out our hats section to see more pictures of these new Akinz beanies.
I don’t know if you live in a cold climate area or not, but here in Steamboat, temperatures have been in the negatives for a week straight. Of course, we’re unwilling to sacrifice good riding since we’ve also gotten almost 3 feet of snow in the last 48 hours! Therefore, I’ve endured a frostbitten nose, a side bruise from a hip check on a tree and sore legs from riding in so much powder… I know, you don’t feel sorry for me.Â
But, all that cold weather has made us beanie crazy! So far, our website has up the two new beanies, the jailbait beanie with either a hot pink, lime, or aqua pompom and the Elementary beanie with it’s back to basics, blue, white, and yellow stripes with pink pom. Soon you’ll be seeing the grape escape pop up and even more to come! Keep an eye on our hats section for more fun beanies and colors!
