Community Choice Plaid Mob at Akinz!

Be Local put this month's Plaid Mob to a community vote and Akinz was chosen as the destination!

What is a Plaid Mob?

From the Be Local website,

Known in cities around the country as a Cash Mob, we’ve fine tuned the idea to fit Northern Colorado. It’s a simple idea. On the third Tuesday of each month people show up at a pre-identified local business with at least $10 cash and mob the business with purchases.

Why “plaid mob” and not “cash mob?” Because Be Local is all about plaid, jump-started by Plaid Friday. Plaid represents the unique, quirky flair of our local community that we love so much.

We will be targeting small independent businesses that give back to the community. It’s really all about community – supporting local businesses owned by people who live in the community, who employ our neighbors, and are active participants in creating a sustainable economy.

So, we're honored to be the Community Choice! And we'd be honored if you want to participate! The Facebook Event is the best place to get all the details and RSVP, but no RSVP is necessary to show up! Plaid Mobbers also get a stamp that gets you $2 off your first pint at the Forge Publick House (one of my favorite beer-drinking establishments) after mobbing! :)

Here's the short and sweet of it: For this Plaid Mob, we meet at the Fountain in Old Town Square and bike over to Akinz (432 S. Link Lane). Come with (at least) $10 CASH to spend clothes, accessories, etc. at Akinz. Wearing PLAID is highly encouraged…but not mandatory. Then join us afterwards for celebratory drinks. The Plaid Mob stamp will get you a $2 OFF your first draught beer at The Forge Publick House (232 Walnut St. – in the center of Old Town Fire House Alley)… and $1 off subsequent draught beers (cash only accepted – ATM located on site).

NOTE: All mobsters will be entered to win a FREE I Love It Local re-usable bag!!
